STORY
Tessy was found under a bridge in Douala, Cameroon, in March 2017. The baby was dumped there and left to its fate. The place is teeming with poisonous ants, biting insects and snakes. Fortunately, the child was found alive. A man brought it to the orphanage "Nouvelle Destinée". The children already living there gave the little one her name, Tessy.
The Hamburg linguist and teacher Dr. Marc Ntouda was in Cameroon at the time to visit his family. By chance, he heard about the fate of little Tessy. As father himself, Marc did not think twice, went to the orphanage and financed the necessary first medical aid for the baby out of his own pocket. For four days he did not leave Tessy's side in the hospital. But in order to be able to care for the girl in the longer term, Marc mobilised his network on his private Facebook page. The response was great, Marc received spontaneous donations from friends, but also from members of the fitness club. At that point he decided to get intensively involved for the orphans. Back in Hamburg, he told us about Tessy and the conditions in the Nouvelle Destinée orphanage. Marc's descriptions touched people and a committed team was quickly formed: The association "Helping Tessy" was founded. The aim of the association is not only to support Tessy, but to give all orphans at the Nouvelle Destinée a better perspective in the long term. Other orphanages are to follow.
Since March 2017, we have already been supporting orphans and have been able to significantly improve the conditions on site with the donations:

10 Young people have been trained. 8 Youth are still in training.

Purchase School fees and school materials

Organisation of vital vaccinations and medical care for orphans.

Purchase of new mattresses, bed linen and mosquito nets for precautionary protection for all people living in the house

Food vouchers to provide good basic food for a longer period of time

Hygiene and health articles

Repair and renewal of the defective, contaminated well - the result: clean, fresh drinking water

Personal Christmas gifts for the orphans with our Christmas campaign in 2017, 2018, 2019 and - despite COVID - also in 2020, 2021, as well as in 2022 and 2023.

WE SUPPORT CHILDREN IN NEED, ESPECIALLY ORPHANS, SO THAT THEY CAN TAKE THEIR FUTURE INTO THEIR OWN HANDS.
We founded HELPING TESSY because we believe that education and training give young hopeless people the chance to lead independent and self-determined lives. We enable young orphans to learn a trade that will help them shape their own future and be a part of the development of their community, their region and maybe even their country.

The HELPING TESSY team consists of people from completely different backgrounds. However, the love of sport and the passion for the project brings us close together and motivates us to always come up with new ideas and actions.
